To find X% of Y, multiply Y by (X/100).

Example: 25% of 200 = 200 × (25/100) = 200 × 0.25 = 50

Formula: ((New Value - Old Value) / Old Value) × 100%

= ((75 - 50) / 50) × 100 = (25 / 50) × 100 = 50% increase

To apply a discount: Final Price = Original Price × (1 - Discount%/100)

Example: $100 with 20% discount

= $100 × (1 - 0.20) = $100 × 0.80 = $80

Yes! Percentages can exceed 100% when describing increases or ratios. For example, if something doubles, it's a 100% increase. If it triples, it's a 200% increase.
