ABV Calculator

The standard formula is ABV = (OG − FG) × 131.25. OG is the Original Gravity before fermentation and FG is Final Gravity after. The difference represents sugar converted to alcohol. For example: OG 1.055, FG 1.012 → ABV = (1.055 − 1.012) × 131.25 = 5.64%.

In the US, one standard drink = 14 grams (0.6 oz) pure alcohol. This equals 12 oz regular beer (5%), 5 oz wine (12%), or 1.5 oz spirits (40%). Other countries use different definitions: UK = 8g, Australia = 10g.

The liver metabolizes alcohol at roughly 0.015% BAC per hour (about one standard drink per hour). Food, water, and coffee do NOT speed this up — only time works. If your BAC is 0.10%, you need about 6.7 hours to reach 0%.
